If your patients are looking for a quick and simple way to boost calories and protein in their diet, a fortified custard can be a great option. Below is a video recipe for Fortified Custard that has been created in partnership with Nightingale Hammerson's Reach. Feel free to share this with your patients. They can access the recipe via our patient site here: Fortified Custard
Ingredients:
-
2tbsp custard powder
-
2tbsp sugar
-
1 pint whole milk
-
Cake or pudding of choice
Method:
1. Used skimmed milk powder to make a fortified milk.
2. Add custard powder and sugar to pan with a little milk to form a paste.
3. Gradually add the rest of the milk on a gentle heat until it thickens.
4. Once smooth and thick, take off the heat and add to the cake or dessert.
5. Serve and enjoy. If you’re not planning to eat it straight away, the pudding can be kept in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
