At AYMES, sustainability isn’t just part of our business—it’s the future of it. We’re challenging the way things have always been done in medical nutrition, setting ambitious targets, and taking bold steps to ensure that our impact on the planet is as positive as the impact of our products on patients' lives. Our recent B-Corp certification is an important step in showing you that we meet and hold ourselves to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Our pledge:

net zero by 2035

At AYMES, we’ve committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions in our internal operations by 2035, and to work with our suppliers to support their sustainability initiatives. This commitment underlines our proactive stance in reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future.

The journey

so far

We’ve already started making bold moves to reduce our environmental footprint. Here are some key milestones in our sustainability journey:

1. AYMES Supply Chain Data, 2024

How we are driving
sustainability

Remote-first company

AYMES is a virtual organisation, and working together remotely, we are proud to have achieved an overall 25-50% use of renewable energy sources.1 Research shows remote working can produce up to 54% less carbon emissions when compared to traditional office setups.2

Tetra Pak packaging

Actagain Juce was the first product to make the sustainable switch to Tetra Pak cartons. These cartons contain 63% plant-based material and use 75% less plastic, contributing to an 11% reduction in carbon emissions.3,4 Keep an eye out for more of our products transitioning to sustainable packaging.

Doing more with less

When we say, "less is more," we mean it. Our innovative 250ml ActaGain 2.4 Daily packs the same nutritional punch as other competitive 125ml ONS supplements but with 57% less packaging.5 We’re proving that better care for patients doesn’t have to come at the cost of our planet.

Making a positive impact on a global scale

Like you, we are deeply committed to creating a positive impact globally. AYMES has proudly donated ActaGain Protein Shot to charities supporting individuals battling malnutrition. We are thrilled to have partnered with these charitable organisations to support malnutrition during a humanitarian crisis.

Sustainably sourced ingredients

We work closely with our manufacturers to source raw ingredients that are sustainably sourced using certified cultivation. Our ‘palm oil promise’ guarantees the use of only sustainably certified palm oil, supporting ethical and responsible cultivation practices.6

Our roadmap to

net zero

We have put a detailed Carbon Reduction Plan in place, outlining exactly how we’re going to hit net zero by 2035. We are updating this plan annually and are actively working towards net zero emissions by 2035 through the following strategies:

Reduce, reuse, recycle

Of all the materials used to package our products, plastic has by
far the highest carbon emissions, which will be our first focus.
Post-consumer plastics can be made into food-grade containers, resulting in a 25% reduction in carbon emissions, which could save around 70 tonnes of carbon annually.4 We are committed
to working with our manufacturers to source recycled plastic packaging.

Cutting carbon emissions

Our carbon footprint is extensive and wide-ranging, from cars to cows to consumption. Going forward, we will require our suppliers to declare the carbon emissions of their supplied products. Our team continues to source innovative plant-based ingredients that can help us lower our carbon impact without compromising quality.7

Putting the brakes on transport

We currently source our products from France, Ireland, Spain and Germany, which are transported by road to our distribution hub. Our powders are produced locally in the UK. We engage with our suppliers in taking up low or no emission heavy goods vehicle transport.7 We are always looking for ways to optimise our truckloads and reduce CO2 emissions.

Join us on this journey

This is just the beginning of our sustainability journey. We are continually exploring new ways to minimise our environmental impact.  Have an idea or a suggestion? We’d love to hear from you—because the future of sustainability is a challenge, we all share.
