On Friday 13th December, our Partnership Manager for Tanya Mead, was delighted to present a cheque for £1000 to FareShare, who redistribute good-to-eat, surplus food from the food industry which would otherwise be thrown away. This food goes to over 10,900 charity and community groups, providing enough food for over 925,000 people every week and for each £1 donated to FareShare they are able to redistribute four meals, so we are proud to know that we have been a part of helping to redistribute 4000 meals.
FareShare were nominated by a doctor in London, who said of their work:
“FareShare tackles an environmental problem and provides a social solution – diverting good, nutritious food from being thrown away and redistributing it to vulnerable people across the UK. Working as a doctor I see and value the impact and importance of early intervention support. By providing food to various organisations who are also providing additional support to children and adults across the UK it’s easy to see the impact of FareShare across society.
I came across FareShare recently and the more I hear about what they do and the types of organisations they support the more I am impressed by the range and scope of their work. Providing so much good quality food to so many different charities and community groups on a daily basis has such an amazing impact on all the people who are going to them for support.”
