Innovative nutrition made simple, effective and affordable.

Established in 2013 with the goal of shaking up the healthcare industry, AYMES introduced a fresh and innovative approach to oral nutritional supplements (ONS) by creating great-tasting and cost-effective nutritional products to support malnourished patients or those at risk of malnutrition.

A dedicated team with over 100 years’ experience working in medical nutrition between us. Our purpose is to improve lives with quality, innovative nutritional supplements, developing and delivering all products and services with great care.

As an independent company, this allows for a more flexible approach for our customers, tailored to suit your needs as well as the needs of your patients.

With the NHS under increasing financial pressure, AYMES is a welcome addition to the oral nutritional supplement prescription market, helping to support NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups by reducing costs and saving money – without compromising on quality.

AYMES leads the way, by:

  • Developing great-tasting nutritional products1 that patients enjoy, helping to improve compliance and reduce wastage
  • Providing the most cost-effective range of ONS in the community
  • Delivering a responsive, quality-led service that supports both NHS healthcare professionals and patients
  • Operating an ISO 9001:2015 certified Quality Management System to ensure we consistently provide products and services which meet customer and regulatory requirements

We care about cost

When patients are unable to meet their nutritional requirements through food alone, oral nutritional supplements are prescribed for the dietary management of disease related malnutrition if they are:

Malnutrition is a common problem with 30% of adults found to be affected on admission to hospital and 35% of adults affected when admitted to care homes.3 Those suffering from malnutrition are admitted to hospital more often, have longer hospital stays, visit their GP more frequently and are more prone to infections.3

In November 2015, the National Institute for Health Research Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR Southampton BRC) and the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) published a report that estimated the cost of malnutrition in England was £19.6 billion in 2011-2012.4

This figure is set to increase as the population ages and the cost of health and social care rises. This figure of £19.6 billion is almost 50% higher compared with £13 billion reported in 2007. 4

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) states that improving the treatment of malnutrition has the third highest potential to deliver cost savings to the NHS.4 This is also supported by BAPEN, reporting that the implementation of the NICE clinical guidelines for the treatment of malnutrition, in hospital and community settings, led to greater cost savings than those reported by NICE. 4,5

At AYMES, we’re proud that our products and story continues to help improve lives and impacts on the wider health and social care agenda, with every step we take.

We care about the community

At AYMES, we realise that older adults are often the most vulnerable and affected by malnutrition. With this in mind, we believe we have a moral duty to keep the patient at the heart of everything we do; pledging 5% of our profits to support good causes in the UK to help make a difference to local communities and the vulnerable and older adults in which they support.

We care about innovation

We’re constantly innovating to bring new, exciting and tasty nutritional supplement formats to market, because more choice provides greater flexibility for healthcare professionals to better meet their patients’ needs.

When it comes to medical nutrition, AYMES leads the way, developing many industry firsts:

Many of our newly developed products are created as a result of customer feedback; do get in touch if you would like to discuss or have feedback on how we can improve our range of products and services.
