AYMES International Ltd was established in 2008 with the goal of bringing a fresh and innovative approach to delivering delicious and cost-effective oral nutritional supplements and clinical nutritional products that support malnourished patients and those at risk of malnutrition.
Just like you, we love what we do, and nothing is someone else's problem.
We do this by:
We provide high-quality, innovative nutritional supplements and medical nutrition products with the added benefit of our Price Pledge: to always be the most cost-effective nutritional supplement supplier in the community. We do this by price matching against market leaders in the UK. Our nutritional product range is available without the need for discussion around contracts, as prices are fixed by the listed tariff price.
The significant cost savings made by switching to AYMES nutritional supplements include more than just the tariff price. It also includes a multitude of added extras, which help save the NHS money and reduce costs. Please see our Resources Section for more details.
When patients are unable to meet their nutritional requirements through food alone, oral nutritional supplements are prescribed for the dietary management of malnutrition if they are:
People suffering from malnutrition are admitted to hospital more often, have longer hospital stays, visit their GP more frequently and are more prone to infections. 1
Malnutrition is a common problem with 30% of adults found to be affected on admission to hospital and 35% of adults affected when admitted to care homes. 2
In November 2015, the National Institute for Health Research Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR Southampton BRC) and the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) published a report that estimated that the cost of malnutrition in England was £19.6 billion in 2011-2012.2
This figure is set to increase as the population ages and the cost of health and social care rises. This new figure of £19.6billion is nearly 50% higher compared with the £13 billion reported in 2007. 2
The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) says that improving the treatment of malnutrition has the third highest potential to deliver cost savings to the NHS. 3
BAPEN also found that implementing the NICE clinical guidelines to treat malnutrition, including oral nutrition supplements (ONS) in hospital and community settings, were found to lead to greater cost savings than those reported by NICE. 2,3 At AYMES, we believe that managing malnutrition and supporting people at risk of malnutrition makes good sense for the health and social care system in the UK and that’s why we are passionate about delivering our products and services.
At AYMES, we realise that older adults are often the most vulnerable and suffer from malnutrition. With this in mind, we believe that we have a moral duty to keep the patient at the heart of everything AYMES does, and therefore we pledge to give 5% of our profits to support good causes in the UK so that they can make a difference to the communities and the vulnerable and older adults they support.
In 2013 we launched our first nutritional supplement AYMES Shake, a nutritionally balanced milkshake-style sip feed that at the time was 50% cheaper than the most commonly prescribed oral nutritional supplements. AYMES Shake is still highly cost-effective and delivers substantial savings for NHS prescribing budgets compared to other brands on the market.

In 2016 we launched a savoury alternative to our sweet Shake range, and have recently rebranded this as AYMES Savoury. This great-tasting, soup-style supplement is nutritionally balanced and highly cost-effective compared to other leading brands on the market.
AYMES Complete is our ready-to-drink milkshake-style supplement, for the management of disease-related malnutrition. It is presented in 200ml bottles and priced so that it is cost-effective in the arena of ready-to-drink supplements available on prescription. Switching to AYMES Complete could provide further significant cost reductions for the NHS prescribing budget.
